Michelle Obama, First Lady…..Last in Fashion!
Michelle Obama is our First Lady but she is last in fashion. I had to blog about this because I’m a little confused. Every time the media talks about our First Ladies fashion they use phrases like “Stylish, Fashionista, Fashion icon & Fashion forward “. Now don’t get me wrong, I am proud that we have such a beautiful woman as our First Lady but I would not describe her wardrobe as exactly “stylish”. When I see her clothes I think more Jackie Kennedy or Queen of England (you know, real OLD LADY) and I haven’t heard anyone exactly saying they are running to her designers to get one of those ensemble she was wearing . Granted the woman carries herself with so much class and is very elegant, I have the ultimate respect for her but I really wish Barack would tell his wife to get a new designer, make her look her age. I mean really all our other First Ladies’ were old or older, she is a young beautiful African American woman who is in great shape and can really hold her own. I don’t understand why they (whomever “they’ are) feel the need to choose clothes for her that make her look like she is Jackie Kennedy reincarnated.
Are we looking at twins here or what? I’m not taking anything away from Jackie Kennedy because in her time she looked great. However, we are approaching 2010 and there are way better fashions and designers these days to be dressing OUR FIRST LADY like an OLD LADY. Since Obama has become President I feel there has been some underlining prejudices so is Mrs. Obama’s fashion apart of it? To make her look unfashionable and tell the world she is a fashion icon, while everyone on the outside is looking at her thinking she looks crazy. Or is she really picking these fashion misses? Now, there are occasions when Michelle Obama does get it right and she looks absolutely amazing but here is one of Michelle Obama’s fashion faux pas.
I thought I was the only one who felt this way about her fashion, at first I almost felt bad about my opinion because she was the first African America First Lady and I should support everything she does which for the most part I do but she is NO fashion icon. This opinion, I learned is shared by many of my close peers (Plus you can YouTube it).
We all love her and feel she is a strong woman and the best woman for the First Lady position however, we are not in love with Michelle Obama’s fashion.

Michelle Obama is very charismatic just like her husband and it is the reason why i like her. I also feel that she could connect with people more easily than any other first ladies.

I agree that she is very charismatic and the epitome of class. She does connect well with people but her wardrobe needs a boost. Have you seen some of her “bad” outfits?
