The Importance of Family Connections during Christmas time!
Hi Mommee’s
Christmas time is a week away, and family connections should be stronger than ever. I don’t just mean the immediate family either, our family connections include friends, caretakers, babysitters, social groups you may be in, adoptive families….you get the picture. 2009 has been very upsetting year for many, with the breakdown of our economy. With some families losing their homes and careers, family connections should be the focus of Christmas this year and NOT just gift giving.
I haven’t really been that into Christmas this year partly because of my lost income and partly because I’m just looking forward to 2010. I have so many things planned next year the excitement has kind of taken over. However, my family connections for the holiday have not been forgotten. It has been a rough year. I have been unemployed for over half the year but I can still be grateful for the things I have. My children are healthy and my family connections are good. I plan to spend Christmas building a stronger connection with my family, you know how?….. We just got a new table (a table that can sit all 4 of us), I am so looking forward to cooking my first Christmas dinner and sharing it around our new table. This year I am the woman of the household
Some of you out there may have weak family connections but that is OK. I say, start your own family traditions. Christmas doesn’t always have to be spent in front of a tree, family connections can be built on a lovely vacation somewhere else. Some hotels have beautiful Christmas festivities for families to join in.
Christmas is a time for family connections, a time for love, a time for giving of ourselves to others and not just a way to see how many gifts you get. Try not to measure your love in gifts this year. Try something different! If you have weak family connections, try to make them stronger. Make
2010 a year to look forward to.
Well, Mommee’s that was something I just wanted to share but I would love to hear from your. What ways are you going to spend your Christmas Holiday? How are you going to build your family connections?
